The Achiek Women's Clinic was opened in November 2022. Prior to this, people had to travel 100 miles to the nearest doctor. Many women and infants died in childbirth. People died from illnesses that are relatively easy to treat. Today, many lives are being saved and the quality of life is enhanced. A bonus is that jobs connected to the clinic have increased the standard of living for all clinic employees.

Clean water is crucial for health, time savings, and keeping kids in school. Analysis revealed that many Achiek patients suffered from illnesses linked to unhygienic drinking water. In response, Transform South Sudan drilled three wells in communities with high waterborne disease rates, leading to a significant decrease in Typhoid cases. In early 2024, these wells provided clean drinking water to about 6,000 people, reducing clinic visits for Typhoid and Enteric Fever.

Several trauma training sessions have been held for pastors and community and church leaders to combat the effects of decades of war first in themselves, and then in their communities with the goal of restoring peace, reconciliation, and healing.

We have adopted curriculum from the Bible Training Center for Pastors (BTCP), which is designed to train remote pastors who are without access to formal seminaries for training. To date, we have trained over 618 pastors and church leaders. Training covered typically include:

Pastoral Skills Development – covering counseling, spiritual guidance, and community support.

Community Engagement – engaging with local communities, addressing social, economic, and cultural issues.

Liturgical Proficiency – proficiently conducting worship services, sacraments, and other religious ceremonies.

Mission and Evangelism – using outreach and evangelism efforts to foster church growth and community involvement.

Ethical and Moral Guidance – reinforcing ethical behavior and moral integrity.

Education – promoting lifelong learning and ongoing professional development in response to changing needs and contexts.

These programs are aimed at promoting forgiveness, reconciliation and interdependence between communities. Through forums, work-shops and inter- community dialogues, Transform South Sudan equips civic officials, church leaders, tribal elders, as well as women and youth to embrace their role in establishing and maintaining peace. Skills such as peace building, conflict resolution and mediation are taught and role modeled. Transform South Sudan believes that any efforts at peacebuilding must focus on Biblical forgiveness as a foundation for reconciliation of relationships.

Periodic training is given to a group of 215 women and some youths by a local businessman. Topics include goal setting, writing business plans, business processing, assessment, proper pricing, profit margins, identifying the right business location, and customer service, and potential pitfalls. After women complete the introductory training, they are given loans to establish their businesses. This training has been instrumental in transforming these women’s lives by providing access to financial resources that have helped improve their standard of living. These women are now able to pay school fees and provide food for their families.

We believe only Jesus and the Gospel can truly transform lives. We work to make Bibles available in the many native languages of the people of South Sudan and then we help them to read and understand what is taught. Truly every aspect of our mission, from education to leadership training to peacebuilding to food security is rooted in Biblical instruction.
